They are not supposed to be a single patch or decoration of any kind, it adapts to different sizes and the popularity is great. It is well put together and the underside and top of visor are the same.

When you start looking for a baseball cap you will find many different types and colors. The brim of the hat is supposed to be rigid and can be of unique shape. The back of the cap will either have a Velcro strap, a plastic strap or just elastic so the cap can be adjusted to fit.

A baseball cap was originally for baseball players. In the U.S. however, the baseball cap is worn by people who may have never played baseball. It is considered a fashionable look, a statement when it comes to fashion and a shade for those who may not have hair to prevent sunburn.
Wearing a cap can be more of a statement than the original intention. This started as a trendy statement several years ago.

Wearing the visor to the side is another style that was started around the same time. Those with long hair - men and women both - sometimes wear the baseball cap with their hair pulled through the space above the adjustment.

Baseball caps are made of many different fabrics. The shape may be a fitted cap which is specifically for one person to wear. This kind will not have an adjustor although it is sewn together in six sections just like the other caps. The middle of the top of the cap will have a button covered in fabric usually the same hue as the cap.

Many times instead of solid material the baseball cap will have a mesh fabric for the rear part of the cap. This is also for the purpose of allowing ventilation to the head. The visor section of the hat normally contains a piece of stiff paper board to help it retain its shape.

Some branches of the armed forces have baseball caps as a standard part of their uniforms:

• The U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard are two that wear a baseball cap.
• The United States Army parachute riggers uniform includes the red baseball cap.
• The parachute instructors required dress includes the black baseball cap.
• The 1980s saw the departure of the beret and the beginning of the baseball cap being used by film directors. Big name producers such as Michael Moore, Spike Lee and Steven Spielberg began wearing baseball caps when supervising movies.  Of course, many of them wore them off the set as well.

Black baseball caps have become the choice of many for a variety of reasons:

• Black is a color that will go with just about anything.
• They do not show soil like a lighter colored cap.
• They are easier to find than many other colors.
• Black baseball caps are more of a professional look than lighter colors.
